Ton is a professional Indigenous economic developer and a key member of our Indigenous consulting group.  He has over 25 years of experience working with First Nations in financial management and business and resource development.

Before joining BDO in early 2018, Ton managed his own consulting firm and worked exclusively for a number of First Nations in roles that included:

being the CFO of a Far North First Nation with a $30M budget,

being part of the team that established a Far North Tribal Council and related business development holding company with investments in retail, real estate, and construction,

establishing and negotiating multiple joint venture and partnership agreements for First Nations in the construction and exploration industries, and start-up support for related businesses,

analyzing economic and business opportunities for First Nations (including those in the Mining industry), and

working with business leaders and Chief & Councils to develop governance structures.

Ton’s career has been focused almost exclusively on the professional management of First Nation governance structures and the creation and implementation of First Nation business ventures either stand alone or in partnership with other First Nations or non-Indigenous partners.
