Derek Chum is a member of the Moose Cree First Nation. Prior to his role at Hydro One, he worked with his community on the Lower Mattagami River Project, a hydro redevelopment project owned by a partnership between Moose Cree and Ontario Power Generation. He also chaired the Moose Cree Group of Companies LP, the business arm of Moose Cree. He also chaired Five Nations Energy, a transmission company serving communities along the James Bay coast. Derek also practiced corporate/commercial law for 11 years.
